The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Adamu Mohammad Duguri has called on traditional rulers to redouble their efforts in supporting the sustainability of the ongoing Education reforms in the state government

Alhaji Adamu Mohammad Duguri made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu in his palace.

The SUBEB Executive Chairman said the visit was a follow up to the traditional institutions accountability to tackle out of school children in Bauchi state and also to ensure an increase in the enrollment, retention and completion of primary to secondary schools by children.

According to him, the traditional rulers are closer to the people, hence the need to involve them in the struggle to achieve the set objectives of sanitizing basic education system in Bauchi state.

He explained that SUBEB with the support of traditional institutions and relevant stakeholders will work as a team towards improving basic levels of education in the state.

Alhaji Adamu Mohammad Duguri therefore reaffirmed SUBEB’s collaborating with the traditional institutions to ensure that all children in Bauchi state acquire standard knowledge to the completion level with skills aimed at becoming useful members of the society.

Responding, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu reiterated the council’s commitment to support any programme aimed at improving the education sector in the state.

Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu added that the emirate council had sensitised its district and village heads to the importance of education, saying that they were also doing their best in the area of enrolment and retention of children in education.

While congratulating Alhaji Adamu Mohammad Duguri on his appointment as the executive chairman of SUBED, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu advised him to take appropriate measures without comprise to achieve the set objectives.
